| Singers gather for 'Super Bowl of hymns' | | Posted Tuesday, February 06, 2007 1:02:33 PM by Blog57 Team | | Many around the Middle Georgia area gathered Sunday among friends to watch the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears rip into each other on the gridiron. Yet, about 600 people gathered at Mulberry Street United Methodist Church to partake of the Super Bowl of hymns. The Macon chapter of the American Guild of Organists hosted "A Panorama of American Hymnody," a hymn festival that united churchgoers of various denominations. "We wanted something that could be open to the public - a community event," said Gerald Carper, treasurer for the American Guild of Organists. In its second year, the program focused on American hymns. Choirs from First Baptist Church, Mulberry Street United Methodist Church and Vineville United Methodist Church combined to provide entertainment for the afternoon.... | |

It was Anthony Field, his old mate from the Australian rock band the Cockroaches. After the band broke up in the late '80s, Anthony went to college to become a preschool teacher. Now, he was combining his musical talent with his talent for teaching and was about to record an album for children with a couple of classmates from the preschool teaching program at Macquarie University in Sydney. Anthony asked Jeff if he could come down to the studio and play on a few songs. "I wasn't doing all that much," Jeff recalls. "I think I was renovating my house."
