Leon Hendrix had appealed a King County Superior Court ruling in 2004 that determined he had failed to prove his stepsister, Janie Hendrix, unfairly influenced their father to cut him out of the will. Jimi Hendrix died without a will in 1970 and his estate and the rights to his music were left to his father, Al Hendrix of Seattle. When he died in 2002 the elder Hendrix left the bulk of his estate to his stepdaughter, Janie Hendrix, and nothing but a gold record to Leon. Leon Hendrix filed the lawsuit — which spawned a court case rife with allegations of drug abuse, greed and adultery — against Janie for a share of the $80 million estate.... | |

A press release from Ocean Tomo LLC said that the event, scheduled for Oct. 26, will offer the highest bidder the rights to "Station Break," a 40-year-old song from the legendary guitarist's earliest recordings. The never-before-released song, which was reportedly recorded by Hendrix while he was still a solo artist, was found in 1994 by its co-composer, R.S.V.P. President Jerry Simon, at his home in Woodstock, N.Y. "Station Break" was said to have been recorded at the same time as other Hendrix classics such as "I'm a Fool for You," "Kato's Special" and "No Such Animal." Now the track will join numerous offered trademarks, patents, copyrights, and domain names in the first-ever live auction to include such items, the release said.... | |
