Shes married to Tim McGraw, you know, and theyre superstars and such. Weve been so nervous about this show, because this is our hometown and we dont want to disappoint, she said, and her statement was followed by 17,000 peoples assurance that they werent in the least bit disappointed. Those people were treated to what is most likely the most technologically advanced shows in the history of country music. There are eight big video screens, and then theres the stage, and the stage is a big video screen in itself. Hill and McGraw were walking on LED images all night. That was the decade when my family and I first set foot in this area. California State College (now Cal State San Bernardino) opened its doors to 293 students in 1965 and the Inland Center mall was completed a year later with three anchor stores - Sears Roebuck, May Company and the Broadway. Two new high schools were built during the '60s. San Gorgonio welcomed students in 1965, and the Cajon High School campus (it was initially known as San Bernardino High-North) opened in 1969. The city's population topped 100,000 during the same era. The beautiful California Theater is where I saw "The Jungle Book," my first movie in San Bernardino. A short time later, it began hosting live acting and musical performances as the grand old movie palaces were giving way to a new wave of modern theaters.... | |
