Actor Snipes may be in Africa -- or not

As we know, the feds are hot to find Wesley Snipes -- charged with $12 million in income tax fraud. Now, we hear the action star may have fled to Africa to escape the IRS. According to MediaTakeOut.com, Snipes was spotted recently in an unnamed African country -- one with no U.S. extradition treaty. • u It should be noted that Media-TakeOut is not infallible. The Web site was ridiculed Tuesday by Alicia Keys' spokesfolks for posting a photo of the R&B Grammy winner -- allegedly taken after she was ''arrested'' for a domestic disturbance involving her girlfriend. Turns out it was a shot of Keys from several years ago -- leaving a concert, followed by one of her own security guards. HE KNOWS HER WORK: Director Tim Burton may have rolled over in bed to find his Mrs....

The long-lasting hold of ‘Grease’

LANCASTER COUNTY, PA - When Grease opened on Broadway in 1972, critics were less than thrilled. No matter. Audiences loved it. And theyve been struck by greased lightning ever since. With todays opening of Grease at the Fulton Theatre, its clear that the the show that wowed audiences more than 30 years ago hasnt lost its appeal. Weve been overwhelmed by response to the show. Ever since the box office opened, calls keep coming and coming, says director and choreographer Gary John La Rosa. What makes a musical popular with so many age groups? Those who grew up in the 50s and 60s can relate to the high school culture of black leather jackets, bobby sox and poodle skirts. Baby boomers who were around in the 70s recall the time when the show debuted and the movie came out in 1978 with John Travolta and Olivia Newton John....

"Grease": A 1957 Studebaker is among the stars of "Grease," the new production at Stages St. Louis. Stages bought the car on eBay for $600 and spent another $1,500 to turn it into Greased Lightnin', one of the very few vehicles in all of musical theater to inspire a song all its own. (Those that share the distinction include "The Surrey With the Fringe on Top" in "Oklahoma!" and the "Meet Me in St. Louis" trolley that goes "Clang! Clang! Clang!") An immensely popular celebration of teenage life in the 1950s, "Grease" is in previews now, opens Wednesday at 8 p.m. and runs through Aug. 20. Stages St. Louis performs in the Robert G. Reim Theatre at the Kirkwood Civic Center, 111 South Geyer Road. General admission tickets are $45, with many discounts available. For tickets or more info: 314-821-2407 or www.stagesstlouis.org....
