| | | A stirring mix of music turns a dreary day festive | | Posted Tuesday, August 22, 2006 11:10:55 PM by Blog57 Team | | MANSFIELD -- An afternoon freighted with charcoal clouds and drizzling rain did nothing to dampen the party-hearty spirits that accompanied the Wailers when they hit the Download Festival's second stage and lit, suitably, into ``Positive Vibration." Ditto for the booming thunder, lightning, and downpour that followed the Dropkick Murphys' ferocious set some six hours later. Call it a bonus light show. The Wailers' infectious grooves and the exuberant, earthy soul of reggae classics such as ``Stir It Up," ``Lively Up Yourself," and ``Jamming " made it clear: One couldn't have picked a better outfit than Bob Marley's legendary backing band to cast a sunny spell and chase away worries about whether everything would be all right. | | | Matisyahu: An Orthodox Bob Marley | | Posted Tuesday, July 18, 2006 5:16:17 PM by Blog57 Team | | Some call him a phenomenon; others, a curiosity. Those singing along, however, were not Lubavitch they were in their teens and early 20s, and were not necessarily Jewish. Matisyahus unique blend of Chassidic adages and reggae pop has created such a buzz that his first studio album, Youth, released this year, debuted at No.... | |

| | | Bob Marley nabbed in Fever exculsive | | Posted Friday, July 14, 2006 7:04:33 AM by Blog57 Team | | FREEMOBILE.COM IS claiming to be the only mobile content site currently allowed to offer Bob Marley music and images in the North American market. Worse still for Marley fans, the site is only currently available to Cingular Wireless and T-Mobile subscribers. Aiming at becoming the leading US based content provider, Kargo has followed the typical American model of selling content to mobile phone users through a monthly subscription rather than by Premium Rate SMS (text). Kargo has even filed a patent on its system of rolling over unused credits. The new service follows on from its existing Fever storefront which has been one of the most popular Cingular Wireless destinations since it launched back in 2004. Along with the usual stuff of games and MP3 ringtones, Kargo is offering video ringtones plus what it calls 'celebrity voicetones'.... | |
