| Al-Maliki vows no letup against terrorism; suicide car bomber kills 26 | | Posted Friday, January 26, 2007 3:11:29 PM by Blog57 Team | | BAGHDAD (AP) - Iraq's prime minister insisted Thursday there will be "no safe place in Iraq for terrorists," hours before a suicide car bombing killed at least 26 people in the Shiite neighbourhood of Karradah and two rockets slammed into the heavy fortified Green Zone not far from the U.S. Embassy. Angry Karradah residents took to the streets chanting "We want the Sunnis out!" after the blast, the second suicide bombing in three days in the neighbourhood. The explosion destroyed three minivans, 11 cars and dozens of shops, as well as the local post office, according to a resident. Seven charred bodies were visible in one of the vans, including that of a woman who was half out a window in an apparent attempt to escape the inferno. He also visited the Chumash last August, and spoke with the Santa Maria Times just before that performance. "I'm just a human being. I just sing some songs that you happen to know," Green said humbly in the interview. Green's nearly 50-year musical career, which began in gospel, has come full circle. Today, he regularly spends Sundays preaching to the Full Gospel Tabernacle Baptist congregation in Memphis, Tenn., the church he founded. Telfair knows 10 days devoted to the summer league will be invaluable when the season starts. He has started to catalog where and how his teammates want passes. After a few misses yesterday afternoon at the Thomas & Mack Center, Telfair vowed better ``communication with the eyes" of the big men as summer league progresses. ``When you're on a new team with a new system with new guys, everything is different," said Telfair. ``You want to be around these guys and jell with them. They play different. They practice different. They talk different. I want to be around so I can pick up a lot of those things, so I can blend in with them right away."
